Who is your favorite poet?

Emile Nelligan. He is a Quebecois poet from the early 20th century who was believed to have been mentally ill and was sent to an insane asylum because the poetry he wrote was very sad and depressing for their time. I admire his work because he wrote about his true feelings even if they weren't accepted by society and he did it so beautifully.

I love Ralph Waldo Emmerson and Henry David Thoreau.

These two men have changed my life just through me reading their books and literature. They both express "painting the atmosphere in which we live in, which we morally can do". And that sentence has changed my life for the better, and it keeps getting better ever single day. I thrive!

These two men are so positive and inspireing in what they talk about and wrote about that it is just impossible to not be influenced and made a better person out of what they wrote.

I love that he is a classic poet masterful enough to create a new translation of Beowulf, yet still in touch with his roots to paint insightful pictures into working class Ireland. His sonnet series, "Clearances," is a heart-wrenching tribute to his dead mother. I also recommend his poem "Digging."

But I love humor so I must go watch some comedy now.

I forgot the why part...he just has some great poems that make a lot of sense to me.

Rainer Maria Rilke, he was able to take the sadness that underlies much of life and give it a sense of beauty.

Poe. There seems to be a desperation in his work. I love the old style of writing.
