The oldest trick in the book --- and here I'm talking about the "book of modern times" --- is also the oldest (new) lie, which is, "you can have this for free at absolutely no cost to you now or ever and it will make you rich quickly."

As far as the "older trick" of promising peace goes, countries have always said to each other "I will never attack you for any reason" and then come charging across the border with a vengeance!

Hmmmmmm....it must be the book that all males are given in their teens....there are soooooo many tricks....I'm not sure it's possible to research the OLDEST one.
