Restaurant Hostesses - What do you wear to work?

I work as a hostess. At the restaurant where I work, we wear dress pants and a nice top. My sister's friend works at Outback as a hostess and gets super dressed up. She'll wear a long skirt, a really dressy top, heels, and a lot of jewelry with her hair all done up. You'd think she was going out, not working. She looks pretty, but to me, that's just not practical. At my job, we're running around all night, in and out of the kitchen, so it wouldn't be practical to wear heels, and you wouldn't get that dressed up because you'd end up getting food on your clothes.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are in dress code for your job. She may not see it as a practical thing, just a personal preference. I have had both jobs with and with out uniforms, and i wouldn't wear the best things I have in the closet to serve food. Or heels for that matter. But I did make sure no matter what i was wearing was neat, clean and dress code approved.
