Can I reinstall Windows XP on my computer without losing anything?

Lately I've been having a little bit of trouble with Windows. If I reinstall the program, will it delete all my files, pictures, etc? Or should I save everything to CDs first? Thanks in advance

You can do a Repair Install. You will NOT lose personal settings or programs. The Repair simply overwrites the existing XP with a fresh copy. You will lose any Windows Updates that came out after your install disk was made, including SP2 if it's not on the disk. This link will give you instructions and actual screen shots of what you will see. I chose XP Pro but the steps are the same for XP Home.

Yes, you can reinstall windows without losing anything, but before you do, backup everything that you want to maintain.

Put XP OS in drive - reboot - start the install, but select R for repair. It should copy system files over for you. Good Luck!~

You can do a parallel install or a system restore. Best bet would be to back up what you want to keep just in case. Get free storage online and when you get your computer up and running again then you can simply download it back on.
