I don't know because I don't live in Florida! But logic tells me you would have to already possess a permit in order to take the driving test. You can't drive on the highway without something-right? And when I took my test 35 plus years ago you had to show the test people your permit to take the road test!
Best thing to do is call DMV in Florida and ask someone who knows their laws!

No, having a permit before your license has nothing to do with age. 16 is just he youngest age that you can be to obtain a permit. The only way you could go straight to a Florida license is if you had a license from another state already.

I'm not in FL, but CA. However, my wife didn't have a license (she's from France). She took the written test first, was issued a permit, then was able to schedule for the driving test. The only time limit between getting the permit and being able to take the driving test was the DMV schedule. I would imagine most states work that way for adults.

Depends on the state you are from. In Alabama everyone must take a written test (unless u have out of state lic. and our transferring into AL no written test is required). If your 18 and up u do not have to have your permit for 6 months either. Check with your DMV and talk to the driver lic. clerks.

I'm from Maryland but I think all states require the permit so your folks can teach you to drive right before you get the license
( I Know that sucks especially if you all ready know the ropes

I live in Texas, but I'm sure you can get a license at 18 without a permit...because you are already of legal age.

In Texas at 18 all you have to do is pass the test. Come to Texas get your licenseee then go to Florida they will check your Texas licens and if it is clear they will give you a Florida drivers licens.
