What think of the Yahoo Answers mind police?
I posted a light hearted question yesterday which was removed and they subsequently removed some of my points.
I as an atheist asked: "How evil do you think atheists are?"
Description: If you know of one in your area do the Godly thing and report them to...
and posted the amusing link:
http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0503/atheists.h...
I was shocked to see how many people answered taking umperage without actually following the link or even thinking about the question. One of them reported me and subsequently appologised.
What credibility does this site have when the Yahoo Answers mind police are removing such harmless peices of humour? Freedom of speech? not on Yahoo answers! not even remotely.
Sorry for the apalling grammar in the heading question (and probably spelling too)

You are correct. Freedom of speech does not apply here. In fact, it applies absolutely nowhere that is not completely public property. Even then you can't say ANYTHING, as we all know that slander, treason, and inciting a riot are all crimes that can easily be perpetrated with speech.
Though I appreciate the spirit of your attempts at humor, surely you must realize the you were stirring the pot a bit with a title like that. Most atheists I know find the idea of evil about as laughable as that of the divine, but on the other hand they don't much care for hatemongering either.
If I had to choose between an environment where nobody could be purposefully antagonistic and questionable humour was eliminated versus one where anything was allowed, I'm afraid I'll have to side with yahoo and against you on this one. I'm willing to discard humor if we can get people to play a little nicer. Sorry.

You have my sympathy, my friend. As you point out it is shocking how many people take umbrage without reading or thinking about the question. It would seem that humour is a commodity in short supply. While some posts which are obviously offencive remain others such as yours are removed. It would seem the "mind police" use some very strange criteria in making decisions. What I do suspect is that they are using some kind of software to monitor things, and very few decisions are actually made by people.

Take umbrage, do we? Methinks we have certain dears who would rather see more of their kind of prose on such sites...if one comes on with a fair command of all the things that make such sites (most of the time) sparkle, they get all scuzzy/envious and feel the need to give you the red-flag etc...worry ye not, I'm a fully fledged Catholic who thought the rampage of the IRA - in the UK - in the seventies was just as nasty as the Muslim uprisings (here and there) now, as both lost their purpose after people of their own religion became victims by the hands of their own hermanos. Effin' religion, huh?!
Tell you what - here's another bum...you write what seems like a decent and mature question, and some of the answers you get makes you wonder if they are either reading your question (let alone 'following links'), or are just on a perpetual wind-up skank!

I had the comparable mate. Do regardless of you could to defeat the Yahoo Nazis! I wrote them an e mail packed with the type of abuse you will usually assume from a team of drunken chavs yet... no respond. all of us see the final episode of lost ? in step with risk the Yahoo HQ bunker has a tube device for mail that ultimately ends up in nowhere merely the like the only on the island. you don't get a respond, cos none of those little fascists ever gets your mail. power to the persons, down with yahoo (boo, hiss)!

just because "they" re jigged your words ,somewhat , does not mean you were censored .
Maybe they considered your "joke", was not amusing
and that it may cause offence to some people,
Who knows !!!! Best not take it personally
Accept that ,as there decision and
Carry on putting the good questions up,
for us plebs, who lurk, on this side of the fence!
Be happy

I have quite a deep christian faith, now, before you gag, it is one that I keep very much to myself as i feel that my faith is my business and I feel that without it, I would never have managed through some very traumatic times.
If you have no faith in God, or any belief in anything, then that is your business, but why do you think you must be thought of as evil?
I do not think your question was unreasonable, may be just phrased in the wrong way. The old chestnut, it is not what is said, but how it is said.

some people just don't get a joke, i asked a serious question the other day and got loads of answers which i don't think was appropriate but then again some just don't like people asking questions so why are they on here lol

I agree with you. Your question wasn't rude (though it was somewhat poorly phrased). Sometimes Yahoo needs to lay off a bit and let people do or say what they want.

yes we do need humor and I strongly believe in freedom of speech but it can be pushed to far and in treated as harassment of some sort..I didn't see you question so I guess I can speak on if that was inappropriate
