tell me if this is an eating disorder?
no binge eating, no skipping meals, and no throwing up though...
but the person:
-eats less carbs, more protein
-after dance class, still exercises to sweat more (or vise versa)
-on diet pills
-orders salad while friends enjoy pork, beef, etc. when dining out
-don't like to eat with someone so that she can eat less and no one to notice
-undergoes non-surgical body contouring treatment
-had a history of throwing up when she was younger but lasted just a max of 2 months
if YES to 4 of these, is the person having an eating disorder?
more protein than carbs but not into a protein diet. as much as possible eats low calorie food.
non-surgical contouring body treatment made the person leaner. so while she loses weight, her skin won't go loose. it's approved by FDA and used by celebrities.

It may not be a textbook eating disorder, but the person does appear to be obsessed with their weight and doing unhealthy things to get it down.
Too much protein is hard on the kidneys over time...and the body needs some carbs, that's the ready-to-use fuel.
Additional exercise is okay, but for the sole purpose of sweating more is not. Sweat isn't loss of body fat...it's loss of body fluid.
Diet pills...bad news. At best the otc ones just don't work...at worst they can cause health problems and the weight comes back when you get off of them anyway (w/o a lifestyle change).
Eating salad isn't a problem...at least there's some vitamins there.
Eating alone to keep the portions smaller...not good. Too low of calorie intake causes the metabolism to slow down, thus fewer calories are burned and weight loss is slower.
Not sure what "non surgical body contouring" is but it sounds gimmicky.
Former purging isn't a current issue but does cause the metabolism to slow down as well...which may be something she's still fighting.

Yes it is an eating disorder. If someone has to hide their eating habits...it's a problem. Diet pills on top of a lot of exercise can be very dangerous. Has a history of anorexia there's a good chance that it's a behavior that has manifested itself in a different way. Good luck to your friend I hope she gets some help.

I'd have to say that its less about "how many" of these this person is involved with and more about their mental state. Is this person obsessed with food and body image? The avoiding eating with people is the only one that truly reveals some sort of mental disorder...

Yes. You can be obsessed with your own body image without having an eating disorder. This person really should talk to a doctor.

Yes and there is also exercise disorder. Needs help.. I took a class in college called psychology of exercise and most of those singled out would qualify.

Sound like it, I'd suggest to bring this person to a doctor. If this person doesn't want to go to a doc, go to a dietian and explain to her/him exactly what you stated above. Good luck
PS: They might need some type of counseling as to why they're doing this to themselves, he/she might deny it at first but if I'm correct according to your list above, they do have a problem and need help. Wishing this person all the best.

Depends on how small you already are and if you are going to go to normal habits once you get to the goal weight.
The last one is the only one that sounds like a potential problem.

definitely is complusive and uneducated. Too much protein can turn to fat, we need carbs for energy. She should talk to a dietician and personal trainer for education and see a counselor for why she is feeling she isn't worthy unless she is 'perfect'
