Whats the difference between Region 1 & 2 DVD's?

Region 1 is mostly found in the USA and Canada. Region 2 is found in places like the UK. Most DVD players can play universal region dvds, but its best to find out to make sure. In regard to consoles, yes they can play region 1 dvds, but it depends on what particular console; the PS2 can play them with the use of this product: DVD Region X (by Datel) available from Amazon.

The xbox and PS2 will also play all region DVDs if the console has been modified, however it is illegal to modify your console in certain parts of the world, e.g UK

Region one is America and region 2 is UK and Europe. If you can, choose a region 0 as you can use it anywhere on any player. Some dvds can be made "region free" there is software available to do this. Whether or not the dvd can be played on the console depends what region it has been set for-as with any dvd player. If you go to the amazon.com site there are details on there explaining-just look up a dvd on there and you will find a link for this.

One of them is a US Dvd and one is European. I'm from the states but live in Europe and you can buy multi regional Dvd players and sometimes even the ones you have are able to play them if you get a special code and input it into the DVD player. I think the games consoles do take them, but i can't remember for sure...

You will find region 1 is more european and region 2 is for the uk. Also the format is quite difference

Region 2 is also for South Africa.
