I am lookng for a basic mouse for my computer. I have seen some advertised that say "PS2" Cord.?

Does that mean that it has the old fashioned round plug instead of a USB connection?

PS2 connectors are small round connectors with five or six pins inside and a notch to fit the socket correctly. You need to have a PS2 connector on your mother board to use PS2 mouse. These are not very old and continue to be available with latest machines.

Take it easy. the default keyboard connector is the ps2 model. The USB type can be used but it is recommend that you save your USB ports for other devices. the old fashion connector is the DINN which is big and round and are used on AT motherboards. Use the ps2 if the port is working, use USB as a last resort. Why buy a belt if you have suspenders.

Yes, ps2 is the old fashioned round jack. You can buy a connector to go from ps2 to USB for about $4. Alternatively, a USB optical mouse runs about $7 at microcenter if there is one of those near you.
