Express as a simple fraction in simplest form (pls shw working) eg. 1/3 (2/5 -1/4) ÷ 3/5?

I had to use the # in replacement for the dividing sign, the multiplication sign is " * ", and ">>" refers to the next step as you will write it on your assignment.

a. 1/3 (2/5 - 1/4) # 3/5

1/3 (8/20 - 5/20) # 3/5

1/3 (3/20) # 3/5

3/60 * 5/3

15/180 >> 5/60 >> 1/12

b. 3/4 # 9/2 + 1/2 (3/5 - 1/3)

3/4 # 9/2 + 1/3 (9/15 - 5/15 )

3/4 # 9/2 + 1/2 (4/15)

3/4 * 2/9 + 1/2 * 4/15

1/6 + 1/15

5/30 + 2/30

7/30

c. (8/5 # 5/4) + (7/2 + 7/5)

(8/5 * 4/5) + (35/10 + 14/10)

32/25 + 49/10

64/50 + 245/10

309/50 >> 6 9/50 (THat is 6 and 9/50)

d. 13/4 # (9/2 - 7/3) + 5/4

13/4 (27/6 - 14/6) + 5/4

Had a look at the first one.

1/3(2/5 - 1/4) / 3/5

Dividing across by 3/5 is the same as multiplying by its inverse ie. multiply by 1/3/5 or simply 5/3

The fraction becomes

1/3(2/5 - 1/4) x 5/3

Now do inside the brackets.

2/5 - 1/4 = ( 2x4 - 1x5)/20

So the fraction becomes:

1/3(2x4 - 1x5)/20 x 5/3

= 1/3(8-5)/20 x5/3

= 1/3(3)/20 x 5/3

Now putting the numerators together and the denominators together

The fraction becomes

1x(3) x 5 / ( 3x20x3)

The 3 on the numerator cancels out with one of the denominators 3.

So the fraction is

1x 5 / (20 x 3) or 5 / (20 x 3)

But 5 goes into 20 four times. So the fraction becomes.

1/( 4 x 3)

Fraction then is

1/12

This is it in its simplest form.

I tried the second one too.

3/4 / (9/2) + 1/2( 3/5 - 1/3)

= 3/4 x 2/9 + 1/2( 3x3 - 1x5)/15

= 3x2/(4x9) + 1/2( 9-5)/15

3 divides evenly into the numerator and denominator

= 2/(4x3) + 1/2(4)/15

2 divides evenly into the numerator and denominator

= 1/(2x3) + 4/(2x15)

2 divides evenly into the numerator and denominator

Fraction becomes

1/6 + 2/15

= (5x1 + 2x2)/30

= 9/30

And this is at its simplest form.

Sorry, No it's not. Divisable by 3.

answer: 3/10

Here's d:

13/4 ÷ ( 9/2 - 7/3 ) + 5/4

Do the parentheses first by getting a common denominator, which is 6.

9/2 = 27/6 and 7/3 = 14/6; 27/6 - 14/6 = 13/6

Then do the division by flipping the second fraction from 13/6 to 6/13 and multiplying.

13/4 x 6/13

The 13 cancels the other 13, and the result is 6/4

Finally add this to the 5/4 and your answer is 11/4
