Do people really take longer to move out of a parking space when someone is waiting to get in?

Or am I just being impatient?

sometimes yes and sometimes no - you're probably just being impatient. For some reason when I know someone is waiting for my parking spot I get all hurried...unless they have already left an impression on me - like they're rude. If I think they're rude, I've been known to "punish" them by taking my sweet time. I live in LA - everything about driving is aggressive (or vindictive). It's SO rare when people are nice/polite drivers, when I see one I go out of my way to be nice & polite too.

The perception of time is an event that takes place within your own mind.

As you may notice time flying when you're having fun, you may also notice it slowing down when you're not, such as when someone is moving out of a parking space.

In the material world events simply take place but the experience of time is merely perception.

So the answer to the question is that people take longer because you're impatient.

people really do take long to get out of the parking space because they got all they stuff and they really not in a hurry to go nowhere. And some people do that to see how you will react to it, so you're not impatient, people be playing with you.

We live in an instant world, when we find something we like, we want it RIGHT away. So, when someone is finds a parking spot, they want to get into it right away. The other person is still trying to put things in the car, secure passengers and such. It just seems like we are waiting forever.

But, we also live in an unforgiving world, some people might take longer to get out of the parking spot just to make you mad.

    Sad....

People I think are in their own world sometimes. They don't even realize your waiting to park. Most people are always on their cell phones so they wouldn't' know if a bomb went off in from of them. and you just may very well be impatient. That is something you will have to work on.

Its a power thing. They have actually did a study on this. Did you know that when the car that wanted the spot was more expensive than the parked car that people took less time to leave but when the waiting car was a hoopdie that the parked car took longer. Crazy hugh?

I am one of those people who park way out in the parking lot. (No, I don't take up 3 spots.) While walking up, I am always amused to see people go round and round looking for the closest spot or waiting for a spot to open up. I am in the store shopping while they are still looking!! As for your question, they are probably being extra cautious because they know you are back there somewhere and they don't want to hit you.

I usually move faster when I know someone needs the space I'm in and I'm leaving... unless they are obvioulsy being impatient and rude. (In that case, I put on my lipstick, adjust the radio, buckle up for safety, and oops! forgot one last item I have to run back in for! They have to be really rude to warrant this though.)

If I'm on my way out of a store and a car follows me to get my spot then YES!!! I hate to be rushed like that! I like to put my stuff in the car and get my little girl in her car seat without someone sitting in their car staring at my every move!! Just because I'm done shopping doesn't mean I'm ready to rush off in my car. I have a kid to get settled in and sometimes I make phone calls- I'm not moving just because somebody wants my spot!

    So YES again!
