I am on Ortho-Tricyclen. Well, I started my inactive week of pills on Sunday and still havent got my period...
Should I be concerned??? I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative. Last month, I started my period on time. Is it okay to be late?? If I was pregnant, would it have showed up on the test yesterday or would it have been too early?? If I still dont get my period by Sunday (when I am supposed to start my active pills) should I take the pill anyway or not take it??

Well althoug hbirth control pills are supposed to regulate your period there are a lot of factors that can still affect it. Of course preganancy, but is you are taking the pills correctly you shouldn't have to be concerned about that. If you are not taking the pills correctly, example missing too many or taking more than 1 in a day, this can affect your period as well as put you at risk for pregnancy. Other issues that affect the menstrual cycle include high stress, weight loss or gain, new diet or exercise, or ovarian cyst which is very common. Usually a preganancy can show up within about 10 days or so, that's about the time the hormones that are tested for show up in the urine. If you don't think you are pregnant you could probably go ahead and start your next pill cycle. If you think you may be preganant you will probably want to wait until you know for sure; if you wait you may have to wait until your next cycle to start back on your pills.

Ok...I don't see this as a big problem. If you really want to get your period once a month then your pills are too strong...discuss a change to a lower dose (or consistent dose) pill. As long as you've been on the pill a minimum of two weeks I doubt the test was wrong. The pills are 99% effective. My new pills state you only have to be on them for 7 days. But if not having any period is not a problem (it is a blessing for me) then don't worry just continue to take the ortho-tricylen. Just make sure if you start to break through mid-cycle to discuss this with your doctor (pills not strong enough).

I never start my period until Wednesday afternoon of the inactive week. It used to be Tuesday, but over time the pill made my periods shorter. So... I wouldn't panic yet (some women even skip periods on the pill.)
I'd talk to your doctor about whether to start taking the active pills again on Sunday, though. On the off chance that you're pregnant, you don't want to take the pill. Assuming you've been taking the pill properly, though, the chance that you're pregnant is very small (like 1%.)

It is perfectly fine and normal to miss a period now and again whilst being on the pill. There is nothing to worry about. If you miss this period, but you were careful (did not miss any pills, took them correctly- same time of day, and did not take any antibiotics) you are most likely not pregnant. Saying this even if you turned out to be pregnant taking most forms of the pill it is perfectly safe and nothing to worry about at this stage. I would not be concerned until you miss your next period, then it is important that you do go to the doctor to get it checked out.
At this stage it would be far too early for a pregnancy test to work. When you've missed only one period, it means that if you were to be pregnant, you would only be about two weeks along. This is too soon for a test to pick up on pregnancy hormones. Most tests will only work at around 4wks.
My advise is to not worry yourself over this. Start the next pack of birth control as you normally would, and not think about it til your next period is due. But if you are concerned about being pregnant, then in a few more weeks, take another test. Like I said taking the pill usually will not do any harm even if you are pregnant.
