I heard about the one in Colo. and the Amish school, i didnt know there was a third.

Its kind of sick the way that the media handles these things.

It gets ratings so they show the overhead helicopter shot, the tripod shot of the camera aimed at the front door. And the endless coverage of details they know nothing about.

The one thing about the media that amazes me is that they can talk for an hour about the same exact thing and make it sound like its still breaking news.

Like many people I am appalled at the shootings. I don't blame the media. They are only the messenger. In talking this over with my teenage daughter the best answer seems to be that in any potential hostage situation the answer is to go Flt. 93 on the intruders. Attack them with anything on hand, run, create a distraction - do anything. In all cases people were shot at so does it make a difference at what point you get shot at? The upshot is that these killers were looking for easy targets. Easy targets mean that the killers are in control of the situation. Remove the control and all of the sudden it becomes a less desirable situation. No one likes dealing with chaos if they are the focus of that chaos. THen they have to face the possibility that they will be captured alive and have to answer for their actions.

Remember that the real deterrent to plane hijacking is not TSA and the confiscation of potential weapons. The real deterrent is what happened on Flight 93. The second anyone tries to do something on a plane, at least in this country, every other passenger will be trying to take them out. Who wants to face that?

So I think the ultimate answer is don't be a hostage. Not at school, not on a plane, not at work, not anywhere. Let it become part of our culture. Let's fight back.

I think that has a small thing to do with it..most of the ones where the kids r doin the shootings are bc they was outcast n put down n bullied and just couldnt take it no more. kids arent using their heads these days. they r mean, heartless, disrespectful, and try to hurt ppls feelings on purpose. they push ppls limits too far..and oh ur gonna say that "so what, they dont all kill ppl" ya know what not all of them r wired right in the head..and kids can only take so much b4 they do something rash. i dont condone it but i do understand it. and not even small towns r safe anymore..and that is where most of the harrassment happens. teenagers need to stop and think .."if i go out of my way to be mean to this person, what will happen if he / she snaps n kills me?"

Yes , the irresponsible reporting of the drive-by media is to blame partially . Most of the blame lies with the maniacal crazed killers , whose frenzies are set off in a quest for "glory"- because of the drive-by media's thirst to sensationalize , instead of report the news .

The media reports the incidents after the fact and I doubt that the people comitting the crimes see a report and all of a sudden decide to go out and murder other peoples children. It's been on their minds. And I say again, look who's doing it.

I dont think so. They were three unique situations with different cirumstances.
