Is Halloween Evil and celebrting the Devil?

No, all it is a day for kids to dress up and collect candy

First off, Paganism and the Devil have nothing to do with each other. The Devil is a Christian deity. You cannot worship the devil and be Pagan at the same time.

Now then. There is a holiday called Samhain that is celebrated on November 1. It is the Pagan day of the dead. It has nothing to do with gathering candy from strangers, however, it may be confusing to some people that Samhain Eve and All Hallowes Eve are the same day. It was actually planned like that.

Gathering candy isn't evil. Nor does it celebrate the devil. In fact, it is one of the few times we actually get to see what our neighbors look like. Isn't that kind of sad?

No Halloween is not suppose to be a scary event, or evil event, and especially not worshiping the Devil. Definitely NOT. It's just a day for people to dress up and collect candy. I think it has to do with some story, not a scary one.

People have made Halloween into a scary event, for scary movies, and costumes along with tricks and pranks.

Look on the internet how Halloween started.

Halloween is a religious holiday. It comes from "All Hallow's Eve" , the evening before a special day of remembrance of the dead. Because of the focus on the spirits of the departed, some uninformed people have linked it with the devil, but it was originally intended as a time to celebrate the happy memories of loved ones who have passed, and from the spirit of celebration come the games and traditions of dressing up in costumes and begging for treats. It is a wonderful family-style traditional holiday, but it has been somewhat marred by some cruel people who hide dangerous items in the "treats", and by overzealous religious people who have a false understanding of the rituals.

Celebrating the devil is something one does on a conscious level, just as celebrating god is something done on a conscious level. To suggest that for 99.9% of Hallowe'en participants (little kids who dress up and go out trick or treating) are consciously celebrating evil or celebrating the devil is ludicrous. There may be a small group of satanists who do indeed use the day to celebrate their particular beliefs, but that does not make the day evil.

Halloween came from the pagan festival Samhain, which is one of two times at which the veil between this world and the netherworld is most thin. Contacting spirits and ghosts were supposedly more common this time of year. Apparently. Then All Saints Day was moved to Nov 1st to overcome the problem of paganism in places where Christianity was trying to spread. October 31st became Hallows' Eve (Hallow meaning saint i think..).

Only for satanists. For most, it's a children's celebration/holiday.

Think people got the idea of Hallowed eve being evil is cause next day is All Saints Day, so they think the night before belongs to the opposite.

give us something good to eat,

not too sour, not to sweet,

not to big,

not to small,

just about the size of Montreal.

Halloween is a take off on a Wiccan holiday called Samhain. It has nothing to do with the devil. Nothing Wiccan is associated with a devil or satan, both of these concepts are christian ideals. We don't have a devil or satan. Everyone has the ability to do evil, it is a choice you make as to which side of life you want to live.

Halloween was originally a Pagan holiday, but so was Christmas and Easter. So, if you think that Halloween is evil because of its origins, don't forget to include Easter and Christmas.

The Pagan's however, do not and NEVER did worship "evil" or the "devil".

You cannot help but marvel at the amazing courage of seven million hearts that chose death rather than renounce Jesus. (One wonders if such courage exists in the Church today!) But it wasn't courage, it was faith -- the unswerving belief that in death, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." For 300 years, their enemies ironically "threatened" them with the very thing they wanted most -- to be at the side of Jesus. You see, Hallowe'en is a celebration of death -- Jesus' victory over it, and faith's victory over the fear of it. As Paul said, "O death, where is thy sting?"

Does the "threat" of you own death horrify you? Are you terrified that you might lose everything you've acquired -- lose everything the world has to offer? That's the Spirit of God telling you that your heart isn't where it should be. This is the true meaning of Hallowe'en -- a Christian is immortal and thus has nothing to fear from death.

But you know what is really scary? Millions of folks celebrate our Memorial Day who do not belong to Jesus -- and they too are immortal! That's right, every man, woman and child ever conceived will live forever! The question is not "if," but "where." Mark 16:16 says it all: "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." Now that's scary...

duh! who told you that?? No Halloween is basically a harvest celebration, and the time to drive off demons that would steal your children, thus the candy, to appease the demons and though in fun kids dress up as demons to get the candy. It's not evil any more than your old ford taurus. well. okay, bad example but you know what I mean...
