An ipod is an mp3 player.they are the most common players on the market ,the market is saturated with them so people are use to using the name ipod.Remember when zerox sold the most copy machines? people started saying " i am going to zerox them" when they refered to copying. Its just the same concept.if you are looking for a good mp3 player i would suggest you do your research and look for player with the features you want.Samsung, creative, cowon and iriver all make excellent players. the mp3 market is very competitive so you will get a good deal

mp3s are cheaper, and are not known to cause as much ear damage as an iPod will. Mp3s however, hold less songs, but, to put songs on it are free, you don't have to use iTunes. mp3s are a bit cheaper too.
