I have a patent foramen ovale of the heart-can this be surgically corrected.?

    Yep, depending on the size of the defect, they either put a patch over it or just stitch it up. Do you have exercise intolerance or something that makes you want to have it corrected? Definitely speak to a cardiologist for your questions!

    A pretty high percentage of people have a patent foramen ovale. Only if it is clinically significant in your case do you need to entertain the idea of repair.

    If the findings mean that are being prevented from a job as professional diver, it would not justify surgical repair.
