Computer starting?
When I start my computer it's really slow, I have to wait something like 2 min. before using it, is that normal? It's a Pentium 4, 2.4 Ghz.(XP Home edition).
Is there a solution for that?
Thank you for your time ;)

well if it was always like that get some RAM it will speed up your computer try to get 1Gb. If it just started doing that just recently try to defragment the drive.

Go to start, run, type in msconfig, check out the startup tab. Try disabling some of the things you do not need. Another thing is to defrag your hard drive. Maybe you have a virus or spyware that is making startup slow. I would do a scan. I do not think it is the computer's problem (2.4 processor). You can also set preferences of some programs in your icon corner to not open at startup. It really makes a huge difference. A lot of people have useless stuff like Quicktime, RM Player, Weatherbug, etc... that drag the startup.

Address the following issues:
Memory: At least 512MB, the more the better. It's cheap, get more.
Startup programs: Look in the StartUp group and remove ALL shortcuts in there. You can create a folder and move all the shortcuts there. After the problem is fixed, move them back to the startup group one at a time and restart the computer.
Check the settings of anti-virus program: Is it set to start scanning immediately? Is that necessary?
Run DiskCleanUp.

start~~~>run~~~>type MSCONFIG go to the startup and go to the startup tab and uncheck boxes of things you don't need to startup right off the bat. Like maybe don't start up your messengers, or music programs. Unimportant things like that. Your computer will start a LOT faster. Also, run a defrag on your pc that would help too. Make sure you have all unnessary programs off of your pc.

there is something that is going wrong with ya hardware, You should get it checked by a technician. A 2.4Ghz system should run far faster than that. You did not mention how much memory you have installed, but if you have 256Mbs of ram, it should full boot in at least 30 - 45 seconds. It might be a software issue, but that would be my second guess, Get a computer tech. to check your system.

It depends on how healthy is your system.
the major problem is
u might have too much program loading during your start up,
click on start > run > type in "msconfig"
check your "startup" tab, disable those program that you don't need to load during every start up.
or
you might have too little RAM.try increase the size of your ram if you intend to have alot of program running in the background.
besides that, do a routine maintainance on your system to scan your hdd for error and defragment your hdd.
Scan for viruses and malware tht might be leeching on your memory.

homestead windows startups turns into slower and slower as time is going, it is happening because of the fact we are installation extra utility to it. If those softwares demands loading on homestead windows startup, they are going to be queuing up whenever you initiate your homestead windows and subsequently slowing up the total technique. MSConfig device of homestead windows could make it easier to velocity up by potential of removing pointless courses at startup. click initiate -> Run and variety in msconfig. opt for centers tab, and test for the duration of the record. do away with something you think of pointless to be there. many times if it’s a Microsoft employer service, in basic terms pass away it. opt for the Startup tab, do away with the utility or application you don’t to load at startup. Use Command tells you the place the particular application in put in. issues you untick right here should not be loaded on the subsequent homestead windows startup. click ok, and restart your pc and spot if it plenty speedier now in case you tousled the settings, pass to typical Tab and decide everyday Startup and each little thing will fall back to unique.

Try removing unused programs. Anti-virus programs also take up startup time. Other than that have a pro. take a look at it. You might delete necesarry program files.

probably you need to defrag your hard drive. also the more programs you have running in the back ground use up your ram. but a 2 minute startup time is not that uncommon

seems like a lot of programs are running at your start up. Close some programs you dont need. Clean up some programs or files you dont need anymore.
