Why do some football players wear those armbands?
I was watching college football yesterday and noticed that alot of the players were wearing armbands just above the elbow. They didn't look, to me, to serve any real purpose other than, maybe, making their muscles look bigger. Is there a real reason or function for these bands? Not everyone had them on so I know it's not a required part of the uniform. What's the deal?
I don't think they can be sweat bands because they are too thin. They look more like those rubber band bracelets - that people wear to represent causes like cancer - that they have shoved up above their elbows.

Most players wear something to honor a fellow athlete, like an arm band or even a number on their uniform somewhere.

only the team captain wears the armband. if he gets subbed he gives it to with the second captain. they wear it so you know who the captain is

yeah they are sweat bands and when they lift there arms they wipe theyre foreheads on them

they r sweat bands. you can wipe them over ur fore head or something. plus they r kinda comfy almost :)
