I am decorating my house in a tropical theme. Any great ideas?
I want some cool ideas, I already have the colors picked out, but we are going for a Tiki Bar theme and I was just hoping someone might have some clever ideas.

Set up a corner of the room with a murel of a some palm tree in the back ground with some lattice and flowery plants then get a 3 foot pillar (you can get them at walmart) stick it in the corner. Put a plant that drapes over but doesn't cover it totally up. then go and get a macaw and put that in a corner cage. If you're not into real birds too muchthey do sell wooden birds on these round perches that you can hang in the corner. ---No mess.

Sounds like fun. You could paint a trompe l'oeil picture on a windowless wall, to make it look like a window opening out to the ocean. Frame old record albums with a surfing or hawaiian music theme. Glue shells around a mirror frame. Fill a jar with shells and make a lamp out of it.

Look in the Harriet Carter mail order catalog. They sell a set of six bright colored fish that can be hung on a wall. I have them and they look great!
