Update:

I want crazy, wild and extravagant! But it has to be supported with three good reasons.

1st off I would have mechanical science.

    A) 1st off everyone needs to know how to do basic stuff on their cars

    B) It will help if everyone knows how a car works to increase intrest in improving our fuel consumption.

    C) How many people are on welfare or other government programs that would be so much better with a good career in automotives?

    2. Computer hardware

    A) The world is based on computers now and everyone needs to know how to work on them

    B) How many students could you get interested in a subject that would probably wind up droping out of school.

    C) It will help us quit relying on others to do what is easily done by your self. Thus making those who go into computer repair go into a more advance field thus making the country stronger.

3.Start teaching another forign language other than spanish.

    A) Immigrants should be learning english. We should not force our population to adapt to them. In Germany in any immigrant that comes into the country is required to take 2 years of classes on german why can't we do it here.

    B) Teach them Japanese, they have fast become one of the technological leaders in the world and we need to be able to good relations with them.

    C) Offer various languages and set the career coach up to be able to look at what a student is wanting to do after school. If he is going to be going into one field what countries are leaders of that field. Learn their language so our students may even be able to attend school at the best school for their career no mater where it is.

    Syngi stole my thunder.

I don't agree with her completely but the essence is there. Home Economics should be there. EVERYONE should be able to wash dishes, use a vacuum, operate a sewing machine, dust without making more dust, etc.

Students can't seem to grasp any aspects of the financial world. Balancing a check book is beyond their reach. They should have to file Federal and State Income Tax. With all students working from a different set of numbers. Filling out a job application is another skill needed by students. Being responsible for a baby's needs 24/7 for about a week would be a learning experience.

Each point listed above could be listed as an individual reason.

I don't agree with party day, and I have great reservation about art day. As far as teaching them what to think, that goes on in every class for K through 12 so trying to teach them about religions is a bad idea. It would only degenerate into preaching and we don't need that in school.

So if it is kept to skills needed in life I am all for it. But let's keep it skills. Ways to do things necessary to survive in today's world...

I don't go to school anymore, so I know your question is not aimed at me, but I had to answer. This won't be so much crazy, wild, or extravagant, but more practical and interesting.

I think the last class in every school everywhere everyday should be called Practice for Life. Each day should focus on a different kind of lesson.

Mondays would focus on stuff like heath of mind and body, deciding what you believe (kind of free access to information about all kinds of religious and spiritual beliefs and allowing students to see each others beliefs in action and learn tolerance in the process), and even beauty skills so even the "nerdiest" students could look good and learn self-esteem.

Tuesdays would allow the students to go out and be creative in any of the art classes, plus the schools would have deals with local artistic businesses to allow the students to dip their toes into various artistic skills not taught in the schools. Also, Tuesdays would allow students to improve in any school areas they want-- typing, study skills, SAT study, learning how to deal with college life, choosing a major, choosing a college, and even act as a study hall period for getting homework and papers done. There would also be available programs often required on sex ed and writing skills.

Wednesdays would focus on general life skills like learning to be responsible for others (kids, pets, family, friends, subordinates-- for when they start work, as preparation in case they become supervisors or managers), and responsible for their own needs (like how to shop for necessities, how to buy food on a shoestring budget that is nourishing and how to make the food tastier, how to keep house, how to balance a checkbook, how to use credit cards wisely, investment choices, starting a home business or other business, and becoming more satisfied with life by discovering what you need to feel complete-- kind of pseudo-therapy).

Thursdays would focus on feelings, particularly learning what love really is, and since children and teens often mistake crushes for love this would be very useful. It would also help the students to evaluate others by their actions and realize how others feel by their actions. There would also be some focus on the self, on discovering and improving the personality.

Fridays would be fun, mostly. Students would bring or order things to eat and party, or go out somewher fun together. There would be only brief lessons in how to create your own ethics and not be influenced by peer pressure, how to express yourself well, and how to make friends and keep friendships (while considering whether you want to be friends with certain people).

A class that covers stuff like this is really needed. Wish I'd had one when I was in school.

there has been an overemphasis on mainstreaming. it is ensuing in a damaging reaction by the mother and dad of the non specific ed pupils. There could constantly determine ed instructions in college for the pupils who're overly aggressive with different pupils as they disrupt the educational of others. additionally, in spite of a private aide, specific ed pupils often want extra help from the instructor to benefit a concept than can acquire in a mainstream college room

I think my school has good classes, but we could use another foreign language, because all we have is Spanish. i want french. And, my school counts PE as an elective but it's required. i think we should get to choose if we take PE or not.
