Women only~PMS Question!?

Going on 12yrs now I'm wondering why is it that I get so moody before a period? I don't know too many women who don't and I just want to know why. I don't remember it being like this as a teenager but it really seems to get worse every year. Does it get worse after having kids? How do you deal with it? Any suggestions?

Mine was very bad when I was on birth control. It's all the hormone surges freaking out and getting ready for getting pregnant. That surge of Leutinizing hormone that pops the egg out of the ovary really gets me cranky. I tend to get the shakes and drop everything and am just irritable.

Now that I'm off of birth control, my PMS is considerably less intense. My PMS changed dramatically from when I was a teen, to my twenties and now in my late 30's, it's totally different again. Living life is a process and our reproductive systems change over time and so do the symptoms that go along with those cycles.

There is an over the counter drug called Premsin PMS formula that has some anti-cramp, anti-bloat and sure does make me feel tons better if I'm having a bad month.

PMS is not something you should just 'deal with' It can appear as you get older and often gets worse as we do. You should talk to your doctor. Midol is just a pain reliever but, if you are like me and experience mostly emotional symptoms of pms there's no point in taking midol! I found that going on birth control pills has helped with my pms symptoms but, I still get them something terrible. Some women take antidepressants for pms. I don't react well to those but, I suppose they are worth a try. Before all that though you can try dietary and lifestyle changes.

Some women have horrible PMS and take medication for it. If it gets really bad-go see your Doctor. Midol makes an over the counter medication that helps.

My suggestion... if you have regular cycles, figure when you're going to start PMSing each month and don't make any decisions or confront people during those times. I was PMSing this week and didn't realize it and said alot of things I wish I hadn't said to a friend. So, my suggestion, when you're PMSing, keep your mouth shut (and make sure your close friends know you're PMSing so they can ignore you and/or feed you chocolate)

Hello when your on your period you have mood swings it's different for different people and ifsomeone says whats wrong with you just say your not quit sure.

It's the hormones in your body that causes the mood swings. I don't notice it until my hubby tells me. lol
