The others have given good advice. Actually, I would say to sell a few nickel and dime things first to build up good feedback as a buyer. If you try to sell something for $100+, people will be wary to bid if you've sold nothing previously. Start with maybe a couple CD's or inexpensive jewelry...something easy to ship. I've seen where people are selling the same item, but the seller with the better (and more) feedback will make more money.

You can sell just about anything on ebay. Just make sure you start the bid reasonable so there is more a chance someone will put in a bid. And make sure you have the right amount that will cover the shipping price and you can always add a 1-2$ to that amount to get something out of it if you are going to start low and your afraid of not making anything. You can always check on ebay to see if there is an item like yours that is selling and the price.

You can find things on clearance racks at stores, garage sales, and auctions that may be good to sell on ebay. Watch how much you pay though because you don't want to spend a lot and then be stuck with it.

Sometimes you can make some good money and other times it's just to get rid of things and to have fun.

Selling big bulky things like furniture on Ebay is difficult because shipping is so expensive.

Browse Ebay to see what items similar to yours exist and what the bids are. You might be able to get $20 by selling something on Ebay that you would only get $4 for in your yard sale.

There is a fee to list an item on Ebay (though it is small) and also a final value charge (a low percentage of the final selling price).

Selling/Buying on Ebay is easy, there are a lot of easily understandable instructions to get you going too. There are mentor-type boards there where people will gladly help and advise you as well.

    Good luck!

  • It really depends on the item you're trying to sell. What I do when I want to sell something I look on ebay for the same item and if I see it's in high demand I post it, but if there's no one bidding on it why bother posting. Ebay charges you a small fee for posting items so it doesn't make sense to post when you know you're not going to profit much. Make sure you don't start your bid too high and always offer fair shipping rates. Bidders appreciate that! Good Luck!

what i do is usually hunt out stuff i dont want anymore and have a look on completed listings on ebay to see if similar items sold well previously. if they didnt do well i dont bother putting them on - its just a waste of time and sometimes you can even loose money! ebay takes a percentage of what your item sells for and there are also sellers fees.

the problem is now so many people are using ebay - theres much more to choose from - a plus point for buyers - not so much for sellers. maybe worth just doing your yard sale.

I wouldn't bother with things of little value. Shipping can really add up, so you may want to just yard sale the really heavy/bulky stuff. Best things to sell are light weight things that are easy to sell like DVD's, jewelry, etc..

That's a good idea. Look for stuff around the house that you no longer want, but someone else might need.
