Swollen and bruised gum line, 7yr old, who lost front teeth almost a year ago.?

My nephew, lost his two front teeth on the top gum line, almost a year ago. His adult teeth have not come in yet, and now his top gum line looks swollen and almost bruised. He doesn't complain about it causing any pain. My sister and I are concerned about this. She doesnt have insurance anymore, cause Florida Healthy Kids cut them off because of a misunderstanding in paper work, that she is trying to work out, but it may take some time.

Update:

His teeth came out naturally. With every other tooth that has come out, his adult teeth followed and started to break through soon after. It is just the two front top teeth that have waited.

Chances are that the swollen gum line is because the teeth are finally ready to come out. The gums can appear bruised because the teeth are pushing through the tissue. Did he lose the teeth naturally or did they come out from trauma? If the teeth don't erupt in a week or so, she should take him to a dentist. If there is a college that has a school of dentistry near her she can get dental services VERY inexpensively. All work is done by students, but closely supervised by a licensed dentist. Also, have her call her regular dentist and explain the situation. S/He may be able to alleviate your worries over the phone.

i have read both of your posts twice. i can understand that you are a concerned parent. i would have probably taken my child to the ER as well. i also understand your frustration. however, you do not have a case. who would you sue exactly? the neighbor? he is not liable. after all, the trampoline was in functional condition. there was no negligence. what was he supposed to do, have a turnstile so that only one child could get on at a time? kids will be kids, and they don't always listen. accidents happen sometimes. you were watching him as well, after all, so you would also have to sue yourself. be happy that your medical bills were covered, and only your dental bills were out of pocket. count your blessings that your kid is ok and forget about the lawsuit. i'm not doubting that you will find some unscrupulous lawyer to take your case, but this will hurt you way more in the long run. 1. your relationship with your neighbors will be ruined. 2. your son will not be allowed at anyone in the neighborhood's homes anymore...they will be afraid you'll sue for pretty much any reason 3. after the attorney's fees, if you did win the case, you'd be lucky if you break even. this case would be frivolous and unnecessary. part of the problem with this country is that everyone wants to sue for pretty much anything. when i was a kid, i fell off of bikes, got scrapes, cuts, bruises, etc. all the time at other kids homes. never once did my parents think to sue the the other kids' parents.
