having trouble installing my wireless router (Netgear for AOL)?
i bought a network card as my motherboard is quite old so it did not have the network interface. I have connected my wirelss router to it and installed the drivers for the Network Adapter Card. When i try to install my wireless modem from the AOL support CD...it says something like "error...cannot contact router"....connections are perfectly fine.
I dont know if this helps but my network card is Netgear and 32-bit....please help

that is because AOL sucks. Really I had it like 14 years ago and RAN!!!! First of all it treats people like you have the IQ if a Jar of Mayo, then it puts so much damnn ad ware in that it just chokes your pc also.

Are you connecting your computer wireless or wired?
-I am thinking wireless. Here are a couple of things I check when I am troubleshooting my wireless connection.
1.) On my PC I check to see if I am running DHCP or if I am using a static IP. If I am running DHCP then I make sure my routers DHCP server function is enabled. If it is I make sure my NIC is DHCP enabled. If I am going to use a static IP then I make sure I fill in the IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and the DNS IP's.
2.) Check the SSID.
3.) Check my wireless security settings. (WEP, WPA-PSK, etc.)
4.) Disable/Enable my devices, try the 'Repair' option in XP
-If it is wired then I would still check the DHCP settings and then try a different cable (layer 1 is a big culpret in network problems)
