The options you have available depends somewhat on the kind of disability you have. Unfortunately, there aren't enough venues to help teach the disabled self protection, yet they are so vulnerable to the lowest kinds of predators.

I'm a self defense instructor, and I always focus less on physical 'martial-arts' type defense and more on practical, non-athletic methods. Depending on the laws where you live (California is fairly restrictive, I beleive), you have options of weapons. High decibel alarms are good, they tend to run off the bad guy and attract attention. Pepper sprays can be useful if you are properly trained and physically able to dispense them.

Alot of it comes down to personal security awareness and victimization prevention. There are often many classes like that available, and they apply to everyone. Best of luck :)

    haha, hire a bodyguard.

sry, don't take this as an offense, b'cuz i have a disability, too

y'know, you could also have a whistle, if you can blow it. it'll draw attention, and that's enough to make any attacker flee. if you can't blow a whistle, then just try to attract attention some way.

personally, i wouldn't try to fight back, at least not physically. it's probably hopeless, depending on the disability.

Find the local PACER organization where you are. There are all kinds of programs!
