Try speaking to Citizen's Advice first or checking Community Legal Services Direct website at cls-direct.co.uk for solicitors in your area who may be able to help. You just put in your postcode and a list comes up. Make sure you ask for a fixed fee initial interview, though.

I don't know whether you've thought about, or in a position to, deal with your divorce yourself? I did this and it involved visiting the local court to obtain the paperwork, filling it out, paying some dosh and then waiting. I think from memory it cost about £80 to £100. The staff there are able to help with form completion or again, at the CAB. It is a far cheaper option than going through a solicitor especially if you find you are not entitled to legal aid.

A solicitor is extra of a criminal consultant than the recommend painted via different solutions. on an analogous time as a solicitor can signify you in courtroom he purely has rights of representation interior the magistrates courtroom (criminal) and small claims courtroom (civil), all different representation is completed via a Barrister. So the quantity to which a solicitor can signify you is heavily limited except he's whats time-honored as a solicitor recommend passing an extra examination under the Courts and criminal centers Act 1990. So confident there are 2 categories of solicitor. the roles of a solicitor are many times advising consumers on their criminal subjects and contacting a barrister if mandatory ( a barrister is considered a consultant of their part of regulation and are the advocates i.e. people who signify in courtroom) SOlicitors additionally draft contracts and wills and many times do all the criminal paper artwork.

Pretty mean, this lot, aren't they? Try Yellow Pages or do a search online (try solicitors - legal aid & see what comes up). And good luck. Ignore some of those suckers who answered before me - when they want help, you can give THEM a rotten answer!!!

Yes you can, my husbands ex wife was in the same position as you, and she got legal aid. Talk to a solicitor first as they usually give you the first 30mins to an hour free, or talk to the Citizens advice bureau.

When you know the answer. Why Ask? Depending how long you were married & whether you got a cut from the proceeds will determine whether you get Legal Aid?

Give me a break. You want the tax payers to pay for your divorce. NO. Next thing you would want is us to pay for your next marriage.

Call a non profit organization and see.
