I am a new real estate agent and need creative marketing ideas!?

I just started in the real estate field and most of getting business is getting your name out there.. Since you only get paid by commission.. I was wandering what kind of mailings do you guys get that you actually keep.. I have already ordered some magnets and stuff with my picture and contact info but I was wandering what else I can do to make my name a household name!! Thanks in advance!!

Do not spend a lot of money on gadgets. They routinely got thrown away. A large mailing is like a shot gun approach. You throw everything against the wall and see what sticks. Sooner or later, you will run out of money. Instead send 50 post cards and follow up with 50 calls because 50 is manageable. Otherwise, you might was well grab a bunch of dollar bills and throw it out of the window from a high rise. A small mailing with follow up calls on a highly repetitious manner will give you the best result.

You know what you want when you do a mailing and then call. What about the home owner? What do they get? They can care less about you. What is in for them? Therefore, you mailing and your follow up calls must provide something for them for a "Fair Trade" so they are willing to spend a minute with you instead of "another call from someone who wants something from me".

As for the comment about a sexy picture. That is just tacky. You want to be a professional, be one. Just make sure you know what kind of profession you are in. There is no need for those kind of comments. It is degrading to women.

We enjoy getting a paper once in awhile that is stuck in our door. It tells us what is available for sale in the area. Another agent sends postcards but puts something you'd be likely to keep on it, such as trivia. Offering to pay for an appraisal if you do the listing is a sign that you are confident in selling.

Magnets are good. So are nice pens, as cliche as that may be, I always keep them! What about mouse pads? Or just send out a colorful flyer placed in the Sunday paper. I'm usually full of creative ideas, but just can't think of any today!! Good luck to you.

I wouldn't waste your time on any mailings. You need to focus on networking and building relationships with mortgage loan officers, home builders, etc...

I would recommend joining a leads group such as BNI.

Build a good website and optimize it for the search engines to come up for local real estate terms.

If you have the budget for it then you can sign up for Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing to get instant traffic to your website. This is a short term approach though. For long lasting results you need to do a search engine optimization campaign to get listed in the organic search results.

To become known as a real estate agent you need to get involved in the community. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and network at the same time.

    Hi there,

You might consider selling your services on-line supplemental to networking as recommended above.

I agree that supplying information buyers/sellers want is of greater service than gimmicks.

Check out my company's website www.gotobam.com. We publish trade magazines for R.E. professionals throughout the US.

You can have a feature story written about you and use reprints of the story to convince people to use you to list their homes.

Take some sexy *** pictures, this assuming you are pretty/hot/sexy. And show some major cleavage, that is assuming you have boobs. My friend showed off her sexy pics in the ads and she has been turning down people because she is so incredibly busy, I know this sounds silly and a little sexist.. But a man is much more likely to want to buy a house and deal one on one with a hot girl. I know its sad, but its the way of the world. If you got, work it girl. Its all about the $$$ anyways.
