Why do non-disabled people park in disabled parking only?

This burns me up. I go somewhere, and being disabled, have to park far away, cause all the disabled parking spots are taken by a non-disabled person. Do any of you do that?

they either cant read or they love those 250 dollar tickets. im disabled also and a veteran. its hard to have to walk 200 yards to a store and i know many who are in wheelchairs, crutches and other venues of disability.i have a total hip replacement and the more i have to walk the hip is wearing out sooner.its a terrible operation and i have severe bad problems as well.i think everyone that is disabled should be required to display a handicap tag liscense plate instead of the old placard hung on their rear view mirror. that way you dont have to remember to hang it when you park and take it down when you move.i got tired of the placard so i got a plate instead.

Because they are lazy. Some justify it by thinking that since they are not going to be a long time, it will be okay.

To many people are ruse an inconsiderate of others needs.

I am young and luckily able bodied, if would think it to be deplorable for me to even thinking about parking in a disabled spot, or not offer my seat on the the train.

I once say a gentleman park in a handicapped spot, proceed to move the sign (which was stuck in a rather heavy cement cylinder) a few spots down. I was slightly dumbstruck my how inconsiderate this man was. I reported the incident to the mall security office. I can only hope they towed his car or gave him a hefty ticket.

I'm disabled, too, and I think the kind of person that does this is very selfish and ignorant.

They seem to forget that having a perfectly-working body is a *blessing* - a blessing that we disabled aren't blessed with. We'd give *anything* to be able to walk far - they are just too lazy to - neglecting the fact that they should be happy they are ABLE.

No one should park in a handicap spot because it's "closer"...you could be taking a spot away from someone that *needs* it simply because you are being lazy and not appreciating your mobile abilities. I don't understand why people would stoop so low, personally.

Not so fast, I once thought so and since I was on my bike I asked the Person coming out of a car that she parked in the disabled spot, if she noticed that it was for the disabled? She said:"Yes, and I am disabled" she had taken out the card to hang on the mirror . I simply said, you certainly do not look disabled, and she took that as a complement and said thanks to me. Are you sure, and the fine is very high, if they are using the parking place and do not belong in there.

Because most of them are lazy , inconsiderate and think they're ' entitled' to park wherever they want because ' they're more busy, more important' etc.than the disabled person who needs that spot. The I'll only be a minute syndrome. I'm in favour 5 grand fines for the first offense, bet there'd never be a second one. And there's no defense other than ignorance and arrogance.

It burns me when I see someone hop out of a car in diabled parking; then, trot on inside, even if "they" have a permit. (Often belonging to someone else.)

One can't always assume, however, that someone isn't disabled just by virtue of a lack of a displayed permit. I have 2 severely degenerated lumbar disks and a very painful, injury related, neuro-muscular problem. I was given a permantent permit back on 1994, which finally deteriorated from the sun. Before I got a replacement and after I lost access to health care, my state made it where one needed a new doctor's statement to get a replacement, even if one had a "permanent" permit. If I had access to a doctor, I could get one in a heart beat; but, with no insurance, very little money, and no free clinics in my area, I don't have access to a doctor. It doesn't make walking any less painful...

The number one reason is because they are lazy!

Its usually a person who cant take a parking spot 2 spaces away from the disabled spot because its too far. They are too lazy to walk and too lazy to find a spot.

Nope Dino, and I share your disdain for those who do. Where I live there are inordinate numbers of handicapped parking spaces, mostly unused. And that makes me very upset. But not enough to violate my human decency instincts and possibly deprive someone who really is disabled from parking closer than me.

I don't do that and it ticks me off when I see people do it. Why do perfectly able bodies people park in the disabled spots: LAZY!!!

Disabled people should not be driving away. Ha!!!

It is because they have no respect for people.
