Both Negative and Positive Pregnancy Test Results...?

Hello... I am confused... My last cycle was September 8th... And I usually last about 31-33 days... Well I took an ept +/- test and it was positive... I think... The vertical line was vert thin... not thick like the test window line... But it was obviously there... I called the 800 # and they confirmed positive... Then about 2 hours later I took the other and it was negative... Then after sleeping I took another with FMU... It had the same as the first positive... Very thin line... not faint... thin... and noticibly there... I have alot of symptoms and I want to be... I m/c in Feb and have been trying since... Any advice on wether or not I am would be great... or maybe my bodies playing trticks on me cause I want it so badly... HELP???... Thanks...

unless you are taking fertility drugs, then you are pregnant! you can get false negatives easily if your hcg is low at the beginning, but Getting a positive means that your body has hcg in it. If you had been really recently pregnant like in the last few weeks, you could get a false positive after miscarriage, but that is the only way i can think of to get it. If you got a positive you were pregnant! I miscarried, when I was feeling the contractions and cramps they gave me a test in the e.r. and it was negative. since you have had a miscarriage before, you would generally know how one feels. I say if you have gotten two positives, no matter how faint, you are preggers. My first pregnancy the line was MAGENTA! no doubt there, with my second and third pregnancy, the line was almost not there it was so faint. I kept thinking i was convincing myself because we had been trying for so long. The doc told me if you are not on fertility meds, it is almost impossible to get a false positive! I believe him. Go To The Doctor and take care of that little one starting as soon as possible!

A blood test would be more accurate. It will show you are pregnant 7 days after conception. Go and see your doctor.

    8. The positive line is really faint. Is this okay? An HPT tells you exactly one thing: your urine either has detectable pregnancy hormone in it, or it doesn't. The darkness or lightness of a line doesn't mean much. Generally speaking, a very light line can mean there is a small amount of hCG in your urine, and a very dark line can mean there is a larger amount of hCG in your urine. This is why you may get a faint positive at 10 DPO but a darker positive at 18 DPO. However, this is not always true. Tests are all different, and even tests in the same box may differ in sensitivity. Comparing light/dark lines will just drive you nuts. If you see a line in the "results" window, you're preg!

    9. I took another test and the line is lighter. Does this mean anything? Should it get darker? Not necessarily. In general, the positive line will be darker when a greater amount of hCG is present in the urine, but not always. Some tests contain more or less dye (meaning there is just more or less color to "stick" to your hCG.) Some tests are more or less sensitive-- even 2 tests in the same box can be different. Also, your urine may have more or less hCG in it depending on what you ate or drank, or how long it's been since you last peed. Food itself does not cause false results, but can affect how much urine you have and how dilute it is. Eating salty chips and drinking caffeine all day will result in more concentrated pee, whereas gorging on watermelon and ginger ale will result in lots of very dilute pee. But an HPT is not meant to tell you "how" pregnant you are. It only tells you if you are pregnant or not. As long as there is a line in the results window, you are pregnant.

Some women experiencing early miscarriages do notice their lines getting fainter or disappearing entirely, but even if your line gets fainter, it is not a guarantee that you are miscarrying, or that anything is wrong. See FAQ 21 for normal levels of hCG and how to properly measure it.

    10. I took several tests and got both negatives and positives. What gives? See FAQ 9 above; there are many variables-- concentration of urine, sensitivity of the test. Since true false positives are pretty rare, if you get at least one positive HPT, you are probably pregnant. Wait a couple of days and test again or try another brand if you are suspect. If you suspect you have a true false positive (meaning you did not conceive and still got a positive), please share with us so we can let other women know about that brand!

    Good luck

Relax! If you are pregnant "going mad" is not good for a baby! Wait a few days between tests, take another one, a good brand, if its positive get ready to see your doctor! A blood test from a doctor hardly ever gives a false positive, so if you just make an appointment, you won't have to drive yourself insane, you'll just know! S

FORGET the pregnancy tests with lines. They are for the birds. Go buy yourself one of the digital pregnancy tests that says the words PREGNANT/ NOT PREGNANT.

For my first pregnancy I went through 5 different pregnancy tests with lines and I didn't believe any of them because they had faint lines. The words will really answer your question. They won't tell you pregnant unless they detect the pregancy hormone.

EPT and ClearBlue Easy have excellent digital tests.

    Best of luck.

Well, if you are getting different results on your tests, you should definitely go and see a doctor to make sure. They can administer a blood test so you will know for certain. I can understand your anxiety during a time like this when you want a baby so badly and you can drive yourself crazy not knowing.

]You could be pregnant! Sometimes early in the pregnacy there is not alot of the hormone hcg in your system yet. You should call your doctor or family planning clinic and get them to do a test to confirm. Good Luck!!!

I agree with the others... go to the doctor and get a full test... While you are there, get advice on where to go next if positive or what to do next time if negative. Good Luck

hey darlin' your best bet? go on and see your dr. if you don't have one, go to your local health dept. i hate that you have had the past you've had with a m/c, that truly sux and there is nothing that this site can offer you honestly, i wish it were different, i wish that i could say, YES, i've had that happen to me and it was positive. unfortunately i can't. call your dr. if they know about the past m/c, they will be very empathetic, and get you in first thing. Good Luck, i'll be thinking about you! :)
