Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

If all of the answers you received were bad, why do you have to pick a best answer when you ask a question?

Especially when you are only given one answer such as "I don't know." Seems to me that they don't deserve the points.

Update:

By the way - you can only pick "No best answer" when it's not your question and you're voting on others' questions

there are a couple of options available to you.

    1. report the users who said "i don't know" for abuse (point gaming/not a question or answer) and rate their answers down (once CC finds out about their abuse, they'll lose 10pts... which might encourage them to not post any more IDK answers).

    2. delete your question. you lose 5 pts, but it gets rid of anyone else seeing the dumb answers who responded to your question (unfortunately, the answerers will keep their pts)

    3. move your question to voting status, and choose No Best Answer and hope that other people do the same (you can vote on a best answer when a question has gone to voting status, even your own). if by the end of the voting period, there are more votes for No Best Answer, the question gets removed and you get 3pts back. this option also lets the answerers keep their points.

you best bet to get back at these "i don't know" aka IDK users is to report them, and hopefully by doing so encourage them to answer only if they have useful information.

P.S. if your question reaches the end of its "open" period without any answers (imagine they remove all the answers because they violated some community guideline), then the question gets removed from the system, and you get your 5pts back. hope this helps :D

If you don't like any of the answers I would delete the question and ask it again... the questions are listed by time and they usually get most of the answers within the first few hours. Extending the time for answers can add a few days but they seldom bring in better answers and often none additional.. You don't have the option of deleting after it goes to a vote.

I had a question that had three great answers and I couldnt pick one over the others so I put it to vote and the only vote was a point player who had typed the word. points... I was annoyed that it got best answer and complained to the hamster but got no reply... I don't answer questions unless I can give an answer that fits.

You only received a couple decent answers for this question.

I have done this before. If I post a question and the answers are all bad or I only receive a couple and I don't like them, I just remove the question. You can do that. You can go to your Q.& A. page and remove it.

You can always delete your question.

I have had the same happen to me, what I have done is deleted the question and re-addressed it again in a different manner. Usually the second one is understood the most, therefor it offers more answers.

    Peace.

NO, NO, you don't have to pick a best answer.

just use the "NO Best Answer" button at the bottom of the page.

or better still, delete the question.

do not rush issues in any respect. Have small communicate once you spot her, and verify you relish her organization. once you have the time, then ask her to connect you for espresso. you will then know when you have espresso no count while you're nevertheless interested in asking her for a date. it quite is not offensive in any respect to ask to have espresso in a public place.

You don't have to pick a best answer. There is a button at the bottom that you can choose that says 'no best answer'
