Is there a way to fade music out and then start the next song on WMP before the song is over?

I have to dj a party and on some songs ..I don't want to play the whole thing..I am using windows media player now..but any suggestions?

Update:

but when you crossfade ..it plays the whole song and you can only crossfade up to 10 seconds

    Click View>Enhancements>Cross fading and auto volume leveling.

    As you slide the slider to the right, the songs will overlap more.

    Yes, you are right. There use to be a way to have two media players open at the same time. That way you could start or stop either one whenever you wanted. Have you tried Winamp? With winamp you can switch to the next song on your playlist and it transitions nicely (one or two second crossfade) just by pressing the next button whenever you want to go to the next song. The best part is that it's absolutely FREE!
