Some people self-medicate because they are having problems with depression or some other problems coping with life as they find it. This problem will increase as you approach middle age. If you suspect you may be one of these people you should get professional help. These things are insidious.
You say you are an "addict". Allowing yourself to become addicted doesn't sound very smart.
Some drugs can damage your brain. Imagine how you might have been if you hadn't tried them.
OK, you have to go on from where you are. But I would take some time to look within and try to see what's going on in there. Intelligence is not the same thing as wisdom.

I know a lot of people who have done ridiculous amounts of drugs and are extremely smart. I also know some dumb people who do drugs. You are not helping your case with numerous misspellings and grammatical errors but I get your point. I have a friend who needs to get high to study and do all nighters. He is a straight A student going through dental school. He is gonna be an orthodontist. Whats true for one person is not true for the next. Drugs don't make people stupid. They can make thinking harder but it can also open your mind to new ideas.

Do you mean you graduated from the University of Iowa. Mmmm, that explains all the drugs. You're probably a really smart person, want to go on a date? I work at the U of I hospitals.

The fact that your asking this question doesnt make you seem to smart because if you think about it a lot of brilliant people through the ages had drug problems.

Drugs by constantly stimulating one part of the brain like the fight or flight area/pain area (adrenaline/ morphine gets released) will eventually break down that part of your brain's ability to react properly. These areas were not met to constantly be stimulated.
PRETTY SCARY
Yeah I bet it can make you smarter for a minute---think of things you wouldn't normally---It's not healthy!
I think you can get such neurological diseases such as Parkinson's by playing with your brain.
Good Luck
