Blood test results - another sample required?

The amount of blood required for renal and liver tests is less than1 ml. So if the doctor wanted to add these tests, he or she could have added them to the samples they had collected previously for cholesterol. Either there was something slightly out of normal range in the liver function test which the doctor wants to confirm, or there was a problem with the sample at he lab, like they collected the wrong sample and can't add a kidney function test to the sample they had. If it was a serious problem the lab or doctor would most likely have asked for an immediate repeat to confirm results.

You have a right to know why the tests are being repeated, even if, as is probably the case, there is little to be concerned about.

First, the receptionist is not allowed to give medical information so if you need details then you would need to see the doctor.

Maybe there was a slight abnormality in the LFT that the doc thinks could just be a blip, a stage in your life, a testing machine having an off day etc. The further test is to see if that blip recurs. If it does your doc should explain it to you.

Extra info, your high blood pressure could affect the working of the kidneys and liver by interferring with the blood flow. Just in case you wondered how it was related.

How would you test blood without getting the blood out? I test up to 4 times a day at the moment and I do not find it is any problem! Some monitors are better than others, in regards to quantity of blood needed for a reading. I use a one touch ultra, and it needs hardly any at all

Hepatic & renal function tests would be standard, so if they were omitted for any reason they would need to be done. Don't worry unless there is an abnormal result -- the importance of which would be explained.
