I need some boots that will work.?

I live in a place where I walk everywhere that I go and it snows a lot, but I'm not talking about just snow; I'm talking about snow AND ice. I fell down last year and hurt myself pretty bad. So to prevent that from happening, I have decided the best thing to do will be to invest in some good boots with grip...Good GRIP. Can anyone suggest a name brand or place where I can get some boots that will be less than $50.00? 10 points to the one who gives me a good answer. Thank you ahead of time. By the way, I need these boots to last a while. They have to be waterproof and insulated. If you can't suggest a boot, then I will be happy to look into a cleat that goes over the boots or shoes that I already have.

Update:

Knight359 thank you for the tips and I really wanted to choose yours as best answer, but unfortunately the military surplus stores in my area don't have a wide enough variety for me. I wished I could give best answer to two people instead of just one.

I went to www.shoes.com and they have a wide variety for me to choose from.

check into military boots. The military is changing over to brown canvas boots so the black boots may be on sale at military surplus shops. If there no on sale you can ge a decent military boot for around 50 to 70 dollars. Look for one with cloth sides like our desert boots or cold weather boots there a hole lot more comfortable. Also after you get them or any other kind of but get you a 1/2 drill bit and drill holes thru the botom of the sole. Make the hole maybe 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep. I do this to my boots because it makes them suction to ice and tin roofs. You would be surpriced how much better the grip is doing this. make sure you put like 2 in the front and 2 in the back of each boot and also 4 to 6 in between. hope this helped and if all else fails move to a warmer climate. Cold weather sucks.LOL
