How do I get rid of adware on my computer?

Unfortunately this is a problem I'm hearing on a daily basis now.

The number of people who have AVG, adaware and Spybot installed but then get confused as to why they have been infected is increasing by the day. In all seriousness, these programs (especially spybot and adaware) are no longer good enough to be your only protection against viruses, spyware and adware (as well as trojans, rootkits and other nasties). They used to be great programs a couple of years ago, but have now been overtaken by programs with next-generation approaches.

Ad Adare is a scam. If you downloaded it for free it IS spyware.

Buy a SPy Sweeper. Webroot makes a good one.

If you go online you should sweep EVERY time you sign off. I'll bet Spy Sweeper finds plenty. I run mine once or twice a day and find 15-20 traces even though I am only here and Ebay.

I use the Lavasoft product, but there are others available, and it sounds as if you should try one. Consumer's Reports had an article on the subject in a recent issue, so hie yourself off to the library and check it out.

If you are getting pop-ups, try Panicware pop-up blocker.

Isn't your pop up blocker on XP enabled? If not, do it!

Why not simply UNinstall it???
