I'm not all up to date with the internet lingo and since I saw this on a chat room I thought you guys might know.

a bot is a program that moves through the web doing simple tasks such as gathering pages into the files of a search engine. To call someone a bot is to indicate that you believe they are in simple minded search of a simple objective. In Yahoo a person might be a point bot.

In a chat room it's like an insult. Some people call people "bots" if they're new because there are really bots (fake names) that go into chat. Don't worry about it if you like the chat room keep going back..they'll know you're for real :)
