Why is majority of Oriental people don't believe in God?
I mean - specifically - Chinese...
most of my Chinese friends are Atheist and don't believe in God at all...is it their culture ? Their Emperor is used to be assumed as descendant of God (same with Jesus????), but as they realized that Emperor is just human, they no longer believe in God...
look at Chinese Bureau Statistics or CIA Fact Book for statistical data
it can also be concluded that the Communist government doesn't want anything to be higher than their position...
the education system in China is totally different from the rest of the world (in term of spiritual education and personal development). The Communist government is trying hard to keep their existence and trust from their people.
Should there any movement (not just religion) that overwhelmed their realm, they will ban it (example: Falun Gong). The most important is, Communist party and country is above all, nothing can be more than that.
For your information:
Oriental is not all Asians...
it's more likely to Chinese and Japanese (East Asians)...
South Asians and South East Asians are not included in Orientalism...
For your information:
China:
Daoist (Taoist), Buddhist, Christian 3%-4%, Muslim 1%-2%
note: officially atheist (2002 est.)

If they are mainland Chinese, they were brought up not to believe in God because they were communist and hated the colonialism that followed the missionaries. You might want to learn a little more about China -- they haven't had an emperor for a long time and didn't really think he was like Jesus. Chinese people were mostly Buddhist before communism, though there actually were a number of Christians and still are in the mainland.

5% of the Chinese population is considered Christian. Authorities frown on Christianity over their, and they're are even laws that protect against it. Missionary's have a difficult time getting to China, and an even more difficult time when they get there.

It's the culture. I would guess it has something to do with communist rule, etc. But supposedly, yes, the majority of Chinese are atheist.

I think you mean Asian because Oriental describes furnishings.
You really can't assume that because a handful of people you know of a specific ethnicity are athiests that all of that nationality is atheist. There are Buddhists and Christians in China.

Asians do believe in a Higher Power. They just don't call him God. Asians for the most part are not religious, they are spiritual. Just as you don't have to go to church on Sunday to know God, (or The Divine, Allah, Jehovah, etc., )you don't have to be religious to know him/her.
Spiritualality is a knowing. Religion is a belief.

Do you have a sufficiently large number of Chinese friends, to draw such conclusions about the whole Chinese population?

I truly don't know the answer to this question. I would suggest that you ask individual Chinese people who are atheists.

i guess those statistics are taken from a self point of view, much like mine that filipinos are mostly catholic. it could be different anywhere else but all the filipinos i know are catholic. *shrug* i think beliefs are somewhat effect by your background and completely related to your environment growing up.

Yet I will wager they are on the whole just as moral as the Christian community
