Has anyone seen the movie yet? What did you think? Anyone want to see it? Why? It looks good and I want to see it.

not a perfect movie, but it's a very good movie about one of history's most iconic figures.

I think I will start on the + side as the list is short. I saw this at an advanced screening and was rather dissapointed. The visuals were stunning, the scenery and the look and feel of France in the time period.

Now that list is done, The basic direction of the movie had no spark or sense of interest that made you actually WANT to know or at least be curious as to how she deals with her life. I would say 70% of the movie is watching somebody or something walk from one side of the screen to the other with little to no dialog. The actors did well to very well with what they were given, but it did not seem they were given much. While many of the historical facts were in there, they really did not use them to advance or integrate them into the plot. Instead of seeing the interaction of the main character with the many different facets of politics and/or personal life that ended in her demise, we simply see a movie of a semi-lonely party girl who apparently loses everything for no reason.

If you truly are a fan of the scenery of France, this movie is for you. However, if you are interested in knowing about the life, times, and politics of Mari Antoinette, you will find a more interesting tale on the History Channel!!!

Running Time: 2 hrs. 3 min.

    Release Date: October 20th, 2006

MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sexual content, partial nudity and innuendo.

    My grade: 6/10 *

I am debating if I want to see it or not. For the past 5 years or so I have study this period of time religiously. The French Revolution fascinates me. So I am afraid that the movie will not be accurate, etc. I probably will wait until it comes out on video. But I hope I am not disappointed.
