When was the law passed to now allow Medicade to negotiate drug prices and what was the argument in favor?

    So far as I know, never. The Republican Congress, repaying off the big pharmaceutical companies for their rather modest campaign contributions, absolutely forbade Social Security to negotiate drug prices.

    Medicaid is a state program, and the states do have some leeway in the question.
