is there a 'best' time of year to sell a house?
I'm selling a house in Peterborough, should I sell as soon as possible e.g. New Year or if I wait would it better? I heard houses are always cheaper around Christmas so need some advice please :)

It depends on how quickly you need to move. There will always be people forced into buying a house at any time of year due to circumstances e.g. new job. However, most people who simply "want to move" will probably do so in spring, as it would complete in summer.
If you need to move quickly, you could try putting the house on the market to "test the market". If you don't get the offer you want, then take the house off the market and wait until the New Year.
Sometimes, its not the amount of buyers who make a difference - its having the RIGHT buyer, who will normally spring up anytime.

Houses are cheaper around the winter holidays because that's when there are the fewest buyers looking. Fewer potential buyers generally means a lower price. The best times to sell are the spring and the summer. If I were you and you can afford to, I'd wait until spring and hope the housing market starts to rebound with the spring pick up.

The Spring is usually the best time to sell - at the moment people are getting geared up for Christmas. Come Spring people are thinking about decorating, moving etc. In my opinion you should put your house on the market but if you don't get the offer you are looking for take it back off and wait for the Spring.

Don't sell at Christmas time as the last thing on peoples minds are buying houses. Do it as soon as possible or wait until after Christmas.

The worst time to sell is around christmas. Think about it, would you want to upheave your whole life and move just before Christmas? And would you want to just after when you have spent all your money on presents? Best time to sell is early Summer as people want to move in during dry summer months and enjoy the weather in their new home, so I would put the house on the market in April/May. Good luck!

Spring for two main reasons.
1) everyone has been couped up in the house because nobody wants to shop for houses in rain and/or snow.
2) The number of spring weddings that occur in spring has steadily increased annually for nearly 30 years, and every new couple wants to buy a house.
Hope this helps, if you are preparing to sell, this will give you 5 months to have fully ready to put on market in late april. Good luck.

If you're selling a house, wait 'till around end February/mid-March; Spring is always a good time to sell.

October to January is a bad time to sell as people can't be doing with the hassle around xmas. Spring is best time to sell them as that is when people start thinking about it all again so you have the maximum length window before xmas comes around again.

around april may june time that when most people sell their house. Sometimes houses are slightly cheaper because they are less of them out there at winter time, but you will get less for yours stick to spring summer.
