Yes you can. As someone else has already mentioned you need to do the following.

Contact Vodafone and inform them you are giving your notice (30 days or whatever) and you would like a PAC (Port Authorisation Code) number. Some companies either give this over the phone or send via sms or letter, they are NOT allowed to refuse this request.

When you go to join O2, mention to them that you have a PAC number and would like your number ported across from Vodafone. They will ask for your old number and the code. They then issue with a temporary number (so you can use your phone whilst the transfer takes place). The transfer typically takes place within 7 days. You may find some interrupted service on the last day whilst the number swap takes effect.

Other than that there's nothing else you need to do.

Source(s): I deal with this sort of thing everyday as I work at Orange.

Voda and O2 are European companies right? You can keep your number and switch companies as often as you like here in the states, but I haven't heard about GB or the rest of Europe.

    Hi,

Yes you can. Contact Vodafone and ask them for your PAC (Port Authorisation Code). Then simply pop into an O2 shop and go from there

I think not. Though there may be some service or other to do so.

You'd be able to, if you were just changing phones or contracts, but not provider.

you have to call up vodaphone and ask them for your number code. you have to give that to O2 and then they can enter that onto their system and you get a sim with the same number, but on O2. you can't get a sim 'unlocked'. youdo that with phones to allow you to put any sim from any network into it.

    the number shouldn't cost anything.

Yes you can; they should give you a temporary sim card, whilst they update your details...then they change your number over.

yea if you get ur sim card unblocked as its on the vodaphone network this usually costs around 10 pounds
