"When someone signs on/off to yahoo messenger, I used to hear a "knock" and now I dont hear anything.

When someone signs on/off to yahoo messenger, I used to hear a "knock" sound. Now I don't hear anything. I looked under the messenger window and clicked on PREFERENCES to set the "knock" sound again...but I still dont get the "knock" sound. How do I get the "knock" sound back so I will know when someone signs on/off of messenger?

    Hi,

If you want to know when a specific friend has messaged you when you are away from your computer, you can assign a different sound for them to be played when they come online or send you a message. The plugin is still in beta (pending approval) but you can test it here:

    http://www.wackyb.net/YahooPlugins/status_voice_al...

Lets you fully customize sounds for each friend allowing different sounds for each as well as all status changes. A log is kept of all your friends status changes so you wont miss a thing!

** Also included speech output, if you install the neccessary files (details on website and help tab) you can have your friends status changes read aloud to you! **

If you just want your old sounds back, Simple solution..

    Download Sound Alert Toggle here:

    http://www.wackyb.co.nz/option,com_remository/Item...

    run it.. done :)

No Zip files to unpack.. no files to locate or preferences to change

Easy.. and you wont need to change them again every time you update your messenger version. You can toggle for all your ID's at once or even individual sounds from old/new

(just as simple to toggle them back to the new ones if you want a change ;)

    Hope this helps :)

Go into "messenger" and check out "preferences" and "alerts"...do you have the right boxes clicked to enable the sounds?

Can you hear anyother sounds that play on your PC? Check the volume on your speakers.

Did you upgrade? To messenger 8.0 (or whatever)? Maybe that has something to do with it...
