sports bars in chicago?
i am looking for a cool sports bar to watch the bears/49ers game in chicago. someplace where you are still allowed to smoke and preferably downtown, because that is where i live.
i am looking for actual places for ideas, not streets
thanks, but i used to live in bucktown, so i have been to all those bars. i just feel like going somewhere new and i want to stick to near where i live. i have only lived downtown for a few months, so i am not familiar with the bars there. again, i always stayed on the northside. and espn zone is too crowded and you can't smoke there.

Try any of the bars around the Wrigley Field area. I can give a few names (Cubby Bear, Sluggers, Hi Tops), but it won't matter because there are a zillion bars around the ball park, particularly on Clark street. Seriously, go to the intersection of Clark and Addison and just walk in any direction. You'll find a bar. This area is not too far from downtown (just take the Red Line north to the Addison stop). How long have you lived here, but cause you would have known about this by now.
You could try ESPN Zone downtown near Michigan Ave. But it'll probably be crowded and I'm not sure if you can smoke there.

Bucktown is part of Wicker Park, a LONG way away from Wrigleyville. Like I said, Downtown pretty much shuts down on Sunday, so your chances of finding a good bar to watch the game are slim. You're better off going somewhere else. There's a place called the South Loop Club on State near Columbia College. You could also try the bars on Rush Street, not too far from downtown. But like I said, the loop is pretty quiet on Sunday.

What about Joe's on Weed Street? It's huge, so it doesn't get overly crowded, is a great sports bar with HUGE TVs and you can definitely smoke there. Also, I believe drinks are pretty affordable. And it's close to downtown, near Southport/North Ave.

no longer truly some activities bar action happening on the mag Mile....the nearest you're going to get is going to be ESPN Zone this is extremely "busy" Your perfect wager might want to be to go a pair blocks west or north of the "Mile" and also you've many options. If all else fails.....Rush and branch Sts... it is basic to get to and their are a number of of ideas.
