I do not know who said it. It is inciteful, however; I cannot completely agree with it. People do fall for crap every day just because someone charismatic SAYS it is true or is the WAY to be. 2000 years ago, what did they know about space travel or bacteria and viruses, or electricity or how to deal with 6 BILLION people onthe planet. There are a lot of good things in ancient tomes just the same though. Every person used to believe the world was flat and that it was THE center of the universe.

I don't have the time to check out EVERYTHING I currently believe. I have to rely on my education, experience, and relating things together to figure out whether some new idea will fly for me or not. If you apply what you HAVE checked out for yourself to these new ideas and philosophies instead of just accepting them then you have gone a long way to avoid becoming a "Sheep"

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true...

I'm not sure who said it, but it is a great quote. I really believe that. I think that we should not only be free thinkers and think for ourselves, but we should teach our children to be free thinkers too. It is so sad to see here in America how many people believe the media, or the news papers, or what some politician says. Or some who just believe what the bible says. Or some who just believe what every commercial says on TV. Why can't these people learn to think for themselves and determine the truth that way. Good night and Peace.

The idea is all about having your own conviction made strong by your personal experiences and good sense of independence.

Listening to someone recite that would really help me focus on the void. . .and to shift gears from faith to logic; not to say I wouldnt want to shift back to 7th gear from 8th or 12th, one is no less than the other but you wouldnt want to eat nothing but rice
