How to hook up two laptops, wireless?

me and my girlfriend both have laptops and i was wanting to fileshare with her without having to hook them together with cables. They both have internal wireless cards and are both running Windows XP. thanks

I would like to do this without having to have a router or access point.

  • You cannot have a wireless network without a wireless router or AP. You could use a crossover cable to link the two laptops. If you have a switch or hub you could simply plug them both in and as long as Fiel and Printer sharing is enabled (I am assuming you have WIndows laptops) you can browse and share files.

    You guys can send files to each other via AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, etc. You can also use file sharing websites such as YouSendIt and FileDen.

    If you want to use the wireless networking cards, then yes you will probably need a router or some kind of network.
