Where does spam mail come from?

Anybody with an email account has seen it. But a lot of it contains blocks of text which make no sense, and have no phone number or website link. Even if I wanted to buy their stuff, there is no way to contact them. So where does it come from and what is the purpose?

...and who comes up with the fake sender's names? Some of them are hysterical!

Just curious.

It comes from a can, you know the SPAM you used to see when you were little and people would eat it right from the can..yuck!! Well now it's out of the can and on the internet.

some are send by people who try to promote illegal stuff..others are send by automated programmes just to hack into computers or get personal or confidential information

from spammers, just delete it and report it too. so that they fo not occupy space in your account. and if you do not know the person mailing you, he is a spammer. so do not bother about it. delete, delete, delete, or your comp will be ruined.
