Newer Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo vs. older Toyota Highlander?

The Toyota Highlander is THE most reliable Toyota. Do you understand the profoundness of that statement?

Not only that, it gets great gas milage and has tremendous resale value. I know I know, it's kind of boring, but finacially speaking, it's your best bet.

I would go with the Toyota Highlander between the two. I had the same dilema with a Toyota 4runner and a Newer Nissan Xterra. I went with the Toyota because they are built very well. They can run forever as long as you do the proper maintance. My brother worked for Toyota as a mechanic. He said nothing but good things about the engines. They have a higher resale value as well. That is a great deal for a 2002 Toyota Highlander with only 31 k miles for $18k. Very low miles for that year. Amazing. That one will be gone in no time, so your decision might be made up already for you.

both are fine vehicles, but I would go with the Highlander, only because of Toyota's stellar record of longevity and low number of recalls, whereas the Jeep has had more reliability problems, especially with the A/C system, over the years. I currently own a Toyota product with nearly 150,000 miles, and I would not be afraid to drive it to Colorado tomorrow from NW Florida. I would have to think a little bit before doing the same in a Grand Cherokee with the same mileage.

I cant praise toyotas enough.... Ive owned 5 toyota trucks, my 4 cylinder 86 went to 320,000 miles before i sold it, and still ran great. My 89 with the V6 was at 270,000 when i sold that, and ran great also. Ive worked at a shop for many years and can tell you that Toyota FAR outlasts any jeep and you can fully depend on Toyota never to leave you roadside, and will last for you to pass down to the kids or grandkids.

i used to have 2001 Grand Cherokee i loved when first i got for year after i test drive Highlander i trade my Jeep in, i like fishing and hunting so i towed my boat and my trailer a lot Highlander i don't have any problem going up the deep hill or sprint my wheel at the boat duck it also drive smooth on the pave road don't feel like SUV feel like you ride in the car plus better gas saver.

Laredo is a specific and least expensive trim level of Grand Cherokee, so there is no difference based on the question.

If you do any off-roading or trailer towing than get the JEEP. If you really need a mini van, but don’t want to be seen in one, than get the Highlander.

I prefer the Jeep. Much more room and less money to fix if repairs are needed

Toyota for SURE. They hold their value way better and have a much lower cost of ownership over the long haul.
