Even tho you don't wanna hear fisher price, they have a cool talking zoo that I bought my 18 month old grand daughter. It teaches them their abc's. There's an animal for every letter of the alphabet. I saw a ride along tractor with a wagon that fits behind it, I think it was a green John Deere.

The 5 month old would probably enjoy anything that talks or lights up. Maybe one of those pull up gyms that talks when you touch things on it.

    Good luck.......

I think if your 18 mo old likes tow trucks he would most certainly like any other truck with "appendages" like a dump truck or a fire truck. Have you seen Giggle Gabbers? They are Sesame street characters with hinged mouths and they laugh or say cute sayings if you tip their heads back. My 18 mo old granddaughter LOVES hers and she did when she got it for Christmas last year, too. You would probably have to make sure the older boy did not bop the baby with it, though!

Wooden large pieced puzzles for the older boy might be fun and books. They always like books. My gd loves her Fisher Price pull toy. It is a doggie, I think it is called Snoopy. It was actually her older sisters and all three girls played with it.

Any toy connected to something you may let the older boy watch on TV or DVD would be good., It would help him to recognize objects and connect things in his mind. the baby would, I think, would be happy with any small, brightly colored toy. We got the 18 mo old who was 7 months or so at Christmas these small clear balls with toys inside that spin and rattle etc. she still loves them. They have blocks, too. The 5 mo old would more than likely like toys he can chew on. BIG variety out there for that.

I could go on and on but I am sure I am boring you. Hope it helps and good luck! Toys that make them use their hands are the best. Or musical ones. There is a cute blue monkey that makes a monkey sound and "walks" towards you by FP that is adorable.

I guess you should give us some info on the 18 month olds interests. What do you get a 5 month old? do you have one of those rugs with the bow thing that hangs over the baby? It has toys dangling from it. Or what about a walker? They have the ones that are for babies before they can actually use it, with all the toys on the tray thingys.

For the 18 month old, it is more about his likes.....what about one of those leggo tables? magna doodle? Does he have a tv he likes? You can get the character toys of the show he likes. I have 3 girls and only one boy, when he was your sons age for some strange reason he was into CLEANING toys!! (the play vacuums and brooms) lol!!

Reindeer Chow a million lb white chocolate chips (soften and pour over something in a large mixing bowl) 3 c Rice Chex 3 c Corn Chex 3 c Cheerios 2 c pretzel sticks 2 c dry-roasted peanuts 12 oz..purple and eco-friendly m&m's -mixture nicely and positioned into lovable tins. it is quite yummy, relaxing to make, 'easy' to deliver.

a savings bond or something inexpensive, kids dont need 20 dollar toys, they dont know the difference. How about donating some toys or something to the needy, in their name.
