    2 c. all purpose flour

    4tsp. baking powder

    1/2 tsp. salt

    2/3 c. shortening

    3/4 c. buttermilk

first mix dry ingredients together, cut in shortening until crumbly.

stir in buttermilk. dump onti lightly floured surface. knead until smooth. cut out biscuts or roll into biscut shapes. bake at 425 for 10-15 minutes.

if you don't want to use buttermilk you can use 1/2 cup milk and about 1/4 cup of sour cream. this will make them high and fluffy.

    good luck.

    4 cups all-purpose flour

    1 tablespoon baking powder

    1 tablespoon salt

    4 tablespoons butter, cold

1 cup solid vegetable shortening, cold

    2 cups milk

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Add 2 tablespoons of the cold butter and the cold shortening and work it into the dry ingredients, using your hands, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk. The dough will be sticky.

Dust your work surface with some flour. Turn the dough onto the floured surface. Gently fold each side toward the center. Pick up the dough and dust the work surface with additional flour. Return the dough to the floured surface and fold each side towards the center again. Turn the dough over and press it out to 1-inch thickness. Cut the biscuits, straight down, do not twist the cutter, with a 2 1/4-inch round cookie cutter. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and add to a 10-inch round cake pan. Place the biscuits in the pan, turning once (to coat both sides with butter), about 1/4-inch apart. Let the biscuits rest for 15 minutes before baking. Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes.

Biscuits Ingredients: Two cups of flour 1 tablespoon of baking powder 1 teaspoon of sugar (can add more to taste) 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 stick of butter, cold (8 tablespoons) 3/4 cup of buttermilk, cream or half-and-half Method: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Mix all the dry ingredients together. Cut the stick of butter into pieces, and work into the flour mixture with your hands or a pastry blender until it resembles pea-sized crumbs. Add the liquid, mixing until a bit loose and sticky. Pour dough out on a floured surface, and knead for a minute. Dough should be smooth and no longer wet. You can sprinkle more flour on the surface if you find it’s sticking. Take dough into a ball, and hit it with a rolling pin, turning it and folding it in half every few whacks. Do this for a couple of minutes. Roll out dough until it’s 1/4 of an inch thick, and then fold it in half. Using a round cutter (can use a glass or a cup if don’t have a biscuit cutter) cut out your biscuits from folded dough. Place on a greased baking sheet close together (so they rise up not out), and bake for 15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Makes 10-12 biscuits.

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    4 teaspoons baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1 tablespoon sugar

    6 tablespoons margarine (stick)

    3/4 cup milk

Sift together dry ingredients, then add margarine and cut in until coarse and crumbly like cornmeal.

Add milk and mix with a fork.

On a floured surface, knead gently turning over several times. Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out biscuits. Place with sides touching on an ungreased cookie sheet.

OR drop by large spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet with sides touching.

Bake for 9-12 minutes, till golden, turning around once halfway through for even browning.

Serve warm with butter and fried chicken!

ok...you wont taste the mayo but it makes the biscuits realllly fluffy...dont let the easy recipe throw you..they are delicious..make sure flour is "self rising"
