Okay,I asked about the methadone and xanax combination!?

The reason I was inquiring is because my wife was prescribed these meds, and overdosed and died in my arms monday the 23rd I gave her CPR and just could'nt bring her back they worked on her for it seems like an eternity but could not even get a single beat she was taking 2mg.xanax,and 30mg.of methadone.Should I get an attorney for wrongful death?somebody let me know I have two boys without a mother, and I lost my best friend also!

Xanax is a very addictive and dangerous drug, used to calm patients similar to valium, however mixed with any other drug is risky but, mixed with methadone, an inexpensive/very effective pain medication, sometimes used to help herion addicts stop injecting herion, can bring on the effects of herion. Methadone is extremely potent, long lasting and takes a long time to wear off. Any opioid based drug can cause the breathing to slow allowing the lungs to fill with fluid and can drown the patient. I would like to know if the same DR. prescribed both medications to be taken at the same time, if so, yes get an attorney, it is widely known those two should never be mixed. When mixed with a depressant together they can stop the heart, lower blood pressure, and kill. I am so sorry for your loss and the loss your children have experienced. This should never have happened.People need to be warned, it is not a high, it is a death sentence. If your wife had been taking both for any length of time, it seems unreasonable that she would pass away on such a low dose of each, even mixed but if it were the first dosage of both, then it can happen. Nobody will be abel to council you with such limited knowledge, what I suggest, is call the drug store and get your wife's records, you may have to have "power of attorney" to get it, or have the records supeonied by an attorney, get her medical records from every DR. she was seeing and take it all to an attorney that specializes in medical malpractice, Hint?? if the have loud commercials, do not go to them, find one with great references, ask friends, other drs. and good luck.

You most defently should get a lawyer. Sometimes DRS are so wrong. I don't understand why they would give her methadone and xanax togeather any way. I wouldn't wait about it. Sorry to hear about that. God Bless you, and your boys. Good Luck
